Houseguest First Impressions + Rankings

Howdy everyone! It’s Beast Boy from BBQ7 and I’m excited to be blogging this season! (Y’all are lucky this green goblin didn’t enter the game.)

Now, let’s get back to being nice until someone gives me a reason not to.

Right off the bat, I don’t know what’s gonna happen this season, what competitions will be played, etc.... and I don’t even watch Survivor, so this will be interesting to say the least. First impressions are mostly based off character choice, so here is my completely biased take on your picks. I'll do a ranking later on after the first competition tonight!

In order of entrance…

Peppa Pig
oh LORD do I love it. As a cartoon beast, I found that being animated (and a fan favorite) got me pretty far in the first few rounds. Excited to see how Peppa evolves and whether she’ll keep up the Oink! shtick.

Tweety Bird
I stan for cartoon reasons, but I am not a huge fan of Tweety Bird in the first place. Reminds me of Mom’s minivans on the way down to Disney World in Florida. It emits this powerful aura of dried up Americana from the tail end of the Baby Boomer generation. Could totally see this being a Brit a la Scooby from BB7.

Jack Black
Solid choice - lots of people like Jack Black in one of his many roles, so this is a guy who will be likable from the start. I can see him having issues if he is good at comps, but in Survivor, you want that early on.

Indiana Jones
This is no offense to the player, but ugh. Very Johnny Lawrence. Very alpha male. Very should be pre-jury, imo. (Now watch him win!)

Nevel Papperman
He for sure dates this person as a Gen Z person. I never caught iCarly - I could see them being someone in college. I think the lack of connection to the character could see this man leaving early - depending on who latches together. But their iCarly post got a lot of attention, so people were either being nice or will ride for this loser.

Bonnie Bennett
Dude what is it with Vampire Diaries? Could see this being Matty (Stephan) or Klaus from BB7 in the end, trying to rise from the ashes. Anyway, I’m anti-TVD, so, ugh.

Captain America
Fine. Put him on DC though. That would be hilarious.

Issa Rae
Issa bout time!! I love Issa Rae, I think a lot of people do and respect her. If Issa plays her cards right, she could scoot to the end on the good connections she makes today into the weekend.

Cara Maria Sorbello
lmao okay. Cara Maria as a real life realty start doesn’t give ME the best vibes, which makes me think this player is a James (Hottie/Doja Cat) type competitor that will channel into their character-based actions publicly in the house. Mayhaps a villain, even. Wentworth, anyone?


SpongeBob SquarePants
lmao okay, in a completely different way. I’m watching you, SquarePants. He’s either pre-jury or end game, no in between with that kind of face.

Lucifer Morningstar
That’s a no from me, dog. Guess it shows my age, but I am putting a pin on this like I do with TVD characters. Hot, violent creatures don’t do it for me.

Beth Harmon
YES QUEEN. Love it. Love the choice. Could be a dividing kind of character, but otherwise I’m a huge fan of this choice.

Wendy Christensen
Final Destination queen??? I love Mary Elizabeth Winstead with a passion, so I am okay with this choice. I think its a certainly unique choice, but maybe it will just add to the player's spice.

Marcellus Mikaelson
Ok what is going on with TVD what am I missing (ugh), why are they infiltrating Big Brother forum games? At least the two we got this game are hotties. We know the real eye candy of this season is Jack Black.

Marceline Abadeer
We needed a punk rock animated character in the mix. Always a fan of Adventure Time and queer icons. I am into it - maybe she’ll be the next Beast Boy? Also....... four vampires total? WTF? My vampire quota is like 1 tops so I'm drowning over here.

Gale Weathers
Okay, another horror person! That’s fun. I like Courtney Cox, but I’m def going to scream FRIENDS every time I see Gale. The roleplaying is probably the BEST from Gale so far, but it's really... thick? If that makes sense? So, I'm not sure how long she will keep it up.

Desi Williiams
A survivor! I like it. I don’t know her, but I’m certainly down to clown. This player prolly won't be roleplaying much, imo. They are here to win.

Lafayette Reynolds
Jesus, another Vampire. At least this one is queer and a cutie. I like him the most of the blood suckers. But that's just cause I would date him. Hopefully his personality blooms a bit more than the simple Stranded posts.

Russel Hantz
Sure, we needed at least one agro Survivor competitor on the virtual Survivor inaugural season. Kind of like Cara Maria - I don't get the best vibe from the character themselves, and see a villain situation occurring.

Lindsey Morgan
I'm not gonna lie, I have no idea who this is. So... good luck! She's pretty and I'm sure she's talented. Now let's see how the player performs. (I feel like this is a Nevel situation, but the more I look at this cast, the more I realize they all lean Gen Z and *I* am in the minority. Ah, well. Sucks getting old.)

I rate the overall cast 4 out of 20 possible vampires 7/10 until we get some fights.

Roast the Hosts
I don’t have anything to say about the Host character choices, since I am not a huge Survivor lore follower (yet), but Theo James? Thirst traps will get you nowhere, John.

This is looking like a great season already. A few characters have committed to roleplaying, which is always a solid and safe option when entering the house. I just like to set my timer and see how long they can keep it up before the hair comes down. (I'm looking a you, Dua Lipa from BBQ7 lmao.)

I'm gonna go ahead and mix in my character-bias and acting skills in there, too, so don't take it to heart if you are playing a vampire character, ty in advance.

jk I don't have many strong feelings so this list is very weak towards the bottom. It's mostly the 7 people that have jumped out to me as of now.

Great ranking! Yeah it’s hard to see what’s going on from your side, especially with everything happening at tribe camps. But you’re observant! Once the merge comes it’ll be much easier!

Of course, thanks Theo! I'm sure once I can see more of what's going on, I'll be more informed as a Live Feeds watcher.

And to all the players coming back to read this - as of now I can see just the public areas, so I don't actually know what's going on behind Tribal/Private Room doors. I just see the banter during competitions, which is kind of funny already, not knowing anything that's going on behind the scenes or how players are behaving "off the record."

Yeah blogging is definitely more of an art. I would just create my own narrative. Similar to when people would try to read lips and just make up nonsense that kinda works?

I think the players will love your insight regardless!

Alright folks! We are about 5 days in, and after seeing a bit of the competition discourse and ability, I think I can make a more solid lineup here. Since I cannot see why certain people left, I have decided not to rank the eliminated players. (Sorry Issa, you'd be high up if I made this yesterday night!)

1. Peppa Pig - I am keeping Peppa at the top. She's fucking hilarious, still sticking to the character, and obviously a force to be reckoned with. She was eliminated quickly in the last competition, because of her skill. She has great comp skills, but should probably think strategy going forward.
2. Tweety Bird - this bird FUCKS. I know I trashed the character choice, and I still have those thoughts, but the player themselves tried to downplay their ability, then literally steamrolled that comp until they slipped up. Definitely someone I would want in my tribe and fear being in the opposing tribe. Also sounds like they support with the money tasks, which is great.
3. SpongeBob SquarePants - His performance was stellar. I think he's also a person I would definitely want on my team. I wish I knew what his personal game was looking like, but regardless, I would want him on my tribe.
4. Beth Harmon - I am putting Beth third because I think she was smart to not perform particularly well right away, but it was also obvious she was playing along regardless. By not posting and not participating actively until she was needed, she stayed as a wildcard for her tribe that really helped out once Tweety and SpongeBob were gone.
5. Gale Weathers - Also FUCKS. Love the character and I know I would try to team up with her, if I was playing. She's smart, witty, and got a couple Ws when her tribe needed it.
6. Wendy Christensen - Similar to Gale, Wendy showed up when it mattered. Kudos.
7. Lafayette Reynolds - LOVED their performance. I actually laughed out loud during the Batman comments, then Batman answer. I think Lafayette is smarter than they let on, and will likely make the final tribe.
8. Indiana Jones - Definitely tried and was immediately sniped in the last comp. It's okay. He won Murdoc brownie points.
9. Jack Black - There's only so much you can do when your team gets picked off one by one. I was hopeful he could take out one or two people when he was "all alone" (save for Nevel), but he did his best. Shoulda kept his tribe chat open in a different window, though.
10. Marcelline Aberdeer - She did what she could!! We love a vampire queen who tries her hardest.
11. Lucifer Morningstar - Similar to Jack, there's only so much you can do when your team is less than half the size of the other tribe. I appreciated his effort and I hope he wasn't too bummed when he got knocked out.
12. Captain America - I don't have a lot to say about the white dude but he do be playing, which is all I can ask for as a blogger.
13. Lindsey Morgan - I am putting her low on this list because of her lack of effort in the latest competition. She wanted to be a sideline cheerleader because she accepted she wasn't good at the comp. That's fine, but if the luck had changed, she wouldn't be able to help her tribe if the animated characters weren't in for so long. Could have been dangerous.
14. Cara Maria Sorbello - I think that she is playing it a little too low-key. I don't think she's been particularly helpful in the competitions thus far and is a weak link to any tribe she is in, publicly.
15. Nevel Papperman - I am going to put him last, simply because he didn't compete in the latest immunity challenge. I have no idea if an idol was used. If it was, then I think I would put him much higher on the list. But this ranking is from an outside perspective where I have no idea if that's the case.

Just saw that y'all are at 3 tribes again. God SPEED. Seriously.

Let's do a merge ranking! Congratulations to all of the Islanders who have made it this far. Like Gale said, this is a huge achievement in Big Brother Survivor! It's most likely all down hill from here. I haven't seen anything from previous tribal councils, but it looks like everyone is getting along for the most part. I'm sure that will change in the coming days.

Also, shout out to this current comp, which is a favorite of mine from BBQ7.

Let's get it on!

1. Peppa Pig - Sure, I'm still pretty biased. The character choice is incredible and she's a competition beast. She can take jokes and keeps me laughing. I don't keep liking your posts because you're my #1 - but because you genuinely make me laugh out loud with your reaction images and vernacular. I think Peppa is someone to beat, from the outsider's perspective. This win would be a solid notch under her belt, and likely save her tonight.
2. Wendy Christiansen - She fucks, what can I say? Definitely in a great position. I don't think she would go home if she lost tonight, because there are larger characters to target in the game - but she has the range, darling. I sees it.
3. Indiana Jones - Not gonna lie, you grew on me. I still don't like the character choice, but I really think he has a solid social game going from the amount of likes going back and forth. He's also a team player and a competition threat - but not so much a threat that he'd be eliminated next.
4. Gale Weathers - She adds the spice and has a good standing in on the island. I think she brings a lot of good energy to the game, and she's in a solid position.
5. Beth Harmon - Her character choices are a bit more irksome than Peppa's, so I am not sure if it's doing her any favors, especially when it seems she is more than capable of winning many of these competitions. I think she is the type to *actually* win out, but I also wouldn't be surprised if she left tonight with a Peppa win.
6. Jack Black - You are doing good, man. I like you a lot. Jack gives me the vibe that he has a good net of protection around him. I think he's a front runner to lead most discussions in this tribe. I will be interested to see how he speaks up when it comes to tribunal this evening(?).
7. Lucifer Morningstar - I won't lie, you also grew on me. You were pretty low because of the vampire thing, but also because you didn't have a ton of character in public. It's okay - I hope you forgive me. I think he has a well-balanced game and can see him making it quite far, since I'd be surprised if he were on anyone's radar.
8. Lafayette Reynolds - Still love your character and I am rooting for you (as you can see,) but game-wise, I don't know where to truly rank you. I think you have some friends in high places, and at this point I would feel similarly to Lucifer where I don't think you are actually on anyone's radar. Again - I don't know jack shit and you could be the next target, but I like what you are doing. I think a solid win would help you make more committed relationships on this island.
9. Lindsey Morgan - Sorry girl. I just don't like ya or your character. You are pretty gloaty and outspoken, which is a dangerous combination when people need a new target. If you have an alliance going elsewhere, I'll stand corrected, but it's only a matter of time before your flame goes out.
10. Cara Maria Sorbello - I think that you have a lot of promise competition-wise, but I am not sure what your angle is from my current perspective. I'd be weary of you, if I were in the game.
11. Marcelline Aberdeer - I'm sorry, bb. I just don't know who or what you are yet and I don't know how to judge your play style without seeing more behind the curtains. Maybe this will change after this competition. Who knows?

This will be my last ~uninformed~ ranking before I start seeing tribe council discussions, and really figure out where the power lies. But, this is the healthiest mix of expectations vs reality from the first day to now.

I will say, you did Sponge dirty IMO, but at least Nevel left, too.

Alright - we are at final 8. Pretty exciting stuff!! Pouring one out for Lindsey, Beth, Jack, and Cara - you guys played a great game and it seemed like luck just wanted to stab you in the back. This ranking is going to be based on game performance - less bias.

1. Indiana Jones - How he went from the main target to sliding into the background while he was vulnerable is beyond me. Somehow, Lucifer became the bigger target, which is GREAT for Indy's game. I think the "other side" will be going after Lucifer every chance they get. If Lucifer gets an idol, that spells trouble for Indy, but there are plenty of other hungry competitors who would like to take that idol for themselves, so I wouldn't be too worried.

2. Peppa Pig - I still love my hog. She was a big personality and stayed against all odds, and then stayed again this time. She's a blockstar for sure, but it gives her so much ammo at the end of the game to win. Only NOT going to Tribunal once? Only safe ONCE when in the Tribunal? Somehow getting a minority of the votes several times and still kicking, as the target of the OG DC alliance? Crazy shit right there. She's a team player, but funny and has a great personality. Love her game and hope she takes the W.

3. Gale Weathers - I think Gale has played a superb game, especially as someone who wasn't in the OG DC alliance. She hasn't really had a target on her back, but has been able to be vocal and really push people to do what she needs to do. Pretty stellar, if I do say so myself.

4. Wendy Christensen - She's a silent one, but still seems to have quite the sway. My working theory is that she IS close with Lucifer and Indiana, but knows that is poison, so she refuses to associate herself with them in public. But.... she has to be doing something. I think with the way everyone else has been vocal, it's pretty evident which side she is on.

5. Lucifer Morningstar - Apparently the mastermind? I wouldn't agree, but he certainly got around and spoke to quite a few players before this tribunal. I think that he is going to be a target until he leaves. Can he win out? Maybe. But I doubt it. His own alliance will see that HE gets the W if he is at the end with anyone but Indiana.

6. Lafayette Reynolds - Doing a solid job of playing the center if I do say so myself. I think that you are a weak, but strategic player. People keep you around because you are clear with your intent, but you are also not a thread to take away the individual immunity idols. I think that you could be dragged to the end. Not sure your path to victory, but I can definitely see a path to runner up.

7. Tweety Bird - Tweety started super strong in this game, but I have no idea where they ar win the game right now. I think they have some great relationships with the minority alliance, but they ARE the minority for a reason. (I.e. Cara' idol usage) Regardless, I think everyone has played a pretty decent game. Tweety has laid low enough that they could sneak to the end.

8. Marcelline Aberdeer - Sorry, again. I don't know what you are doing. I think you are a follower. I don't see any hints that you are making any moves on your own accord. Obviously, this is a respectable game strategy and I can't diss you for that, but of the players left, I would say you are the weakest and the easiest "safe" out -- if anyone goes for a "safe" out moving forward. I am not sure you'd win in the end against anyone, unless the jury is THAT bitter. But it doesn't seem like you have a ton of friends in jury to sway that way.

Listen - I'm upset the white man is on top, too. You can see I hate the character, but I can't hate the player. They have done an exceptional job of making solid moves, creating incredibly strong alliances, and also keeping themselves out of harms way. If Indiana got rocked out today, this would be an absolutely different game. I can't say the same about Cara, or really anyone else, leaving via the rock from Tribunal #10.

I do want to note, once again, I have NO idea what's going on in private rooms. So, there are moves being made I don't see and I can't rate. I just go off public discourse, competitions, and tribunal.

Also, I realized that I didn't include Tweety in my March 3rd rankings. I would put them between Lucifer (7) and Lafayette ( at that point in time.

It has been a minute since a ranking - and this will likely be the last of the season. Congratulations to the final 4. I would say Peppa and Lucifer going have made this (almost) anyone's game after tonight's immunity. I go into a bit more detail in the other thread, but:

1. Indiana Jones - Clear favorite to win. Mocked publicly, wins comps, everyone "fears" him. Grade A winner right here.
2. Wendy Christensen - The Silent Killer. I think she has made some great moves behind closed doors and, should Indiana's flame go out, she's for sure the favorite to win.
3. Tweety Bird - Incredible underdog performance. Really enjoyed them and their sassiness. I think at this point, they would win against Marcelline at 1v1. I don't know if this is going to end up being a threesome, but if so, Tweety would actually fare better with Indiana and Wendy by the alliance splitting their vote and the bitter ones going for Tweety. I don't know. I'm not an expert.
4. Marcelline Aberdeer - Man. You are gonna hate me after this game but you ain't done nothin' sis. You just been a vote and are still here because of your loyalty (kudos btw) but I don't see you winning against anyone.

That's all she wrote. What a fantastic first season. I can't wait to dig into the private rooms and see how wrong I was!

A hearty congratulations to the final 3. This was a difficult journey. I haven’t seen it all, but I’m here with the blogger vote.

My heart would be warm with a Wendy win. The last immunity competition was no joke, and neither was her game. If I were voting, she would have it.

Indiana - you played a great game, but I think Wendy was under the radar more than you, but has a share in the decisions made by the majority alliance.

Tweety - I think you have a chance to win, but as a player my vote would go to the majority for sheer dominance rather than voting for the minority for surviving, or even voting bitterly. I think if you win, it’s deserved, but there’s certainly a point where our personal biases go into the vote.

I am happy to say the winner of this season deserves it, regardless of who it is. Great job to you three.
